Sonical has listed a small number of works on the music NFT platform Catalog. Each composition is available in editions of one, and the owner has access to the stems/samples that make up the track/composition itself. That’s something which isn’t possible via the usual online shopping methods of stream and/or download.

The idea of tokenising artwork has been around for a while – the digital world’s version of attaching provenance and ownership to music + images. The utility of this is debated ad nauseum, but it does give artists the opportunity to have a more direct relationship with collectors of their work (if mutual) and offer up unique material to the owner of the token or ‘digital certificate of ownership’ (NFT)
