Sonic Installations originate from the Sonic Network sound + painting installations exhibited by John Aslanidis & Brian May in contemporary art spaces and galleries throughout Sydney, Melbourne, New York and Berlin.

The 3D animations in this collection are an expansion of the physical Sonic Network sound & painting installations.

VISUAL

The enclosed environment of a Sonic Installation is wrapped with a Sonic Network series painting. The revolving spheres are wrapped with the works in the Sonic & Sonic Fragment series, creating an immersive and disorientating environment, subsequently manifesting a synergy of analogue and digital mediums.

AUDIO

Brian May composed an infinite, generative sound piece for each installation, which takes into consideration the structure, colours and composition of John Aslanidis’ paintings. The paintings perpetually shift upon being viewed and the generative sound piece mirrors this, layering sine waves which directly correspond to colours emanating from the painting.
